A Fascination with Shiny Things & Fleeting Nature
Corvids—the crows, ravens, and magpies of our northern canopies—are renowned for their keen intelligence and peculiar habit of collecting gleaming trinkets, shiny pebbles, and botanical curios. Corvid Sensibilities was founded on that exact kindred spirit.
As a solitary maker based in Nova Scotia, every piece begins with careful foraging on quiet walks through boreal forests, coastal shorelines, and mist-covered valleys.
Botanicals are selected with care and preserved in my workshop in a sustainable manner: Invasive or ornamental species are harvested preferentially, and native flora and fungi are only collected when populations are abundant year-over-year. Protected species are never exploited.
"Found taxidermy" includes naturally discovered carcasses of animals, vertebrates and invertebrates, alike.
When clients entrust me with their beloved pets' items, or irreplaceable family items, they should feel safe knowing this is my passion: giving fleeting, irreplaceable bonds a permanent home in wearable art.

The Ethical Foraging Manifesto
Our 4 studio commitments to responsible harvesting, shed keepsakes, sustainable native flora, and cruelty-free materials.
Experienced identification of flora and fauna: Be confident in the identity of the species used.
Responsible harvest: Focus on invasive or introduced species and not native flora.
Only naturally shed whiskers are accepted: These are vital sensory hairs and are painful to pluck. Likewise, only naturally shed feathers from companion birds are accepted. Shed skin from reptiles is also collected without harm to the animal.
Only sustainable native flora are selected: Protected or at-risk species are never collected. Foraging sites are familiar, and only species with year-over-year growth are collected in a sustainable fashion (no more than 5% of the existing flora).
Cruelty-free taxidermy: Found carcasses and sustainably-sourced invertebrate parts are used for taxidermy. Only a select few invasive, damaging species (such as the Japanese Potato Beetle) are humanely euthanized for use in projects.
